The Community:

Ashburnham and Westminster
are located in Northern Worcester County, approximately 50 miles northwest of Boston, along the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border. Each town was incorporated over 200 years ago. Both towns are growing with a combined population exceeding 12,600 residents and a K-12 student enrollment of 2,500.


The communities' economic bases have been strengthened by recent local development in high technology, manufacturing, and recreation. Although the character of the communities remains rural/residential, the improving economic environment has made it possible to expand and enhance services to the towns' citizens.

The educational, cultural and recreational resources of the area are excellent. Both communities have easy access to Worcester and Boston, Massachusetts and Keene, New Hampshire.

Selection Criteria:

- An energetic leader with experience as a problem solver;
- An administrator with strong management, business and financial skills;
- An educational leader with proven experience in Professional / Staff Development;
- Knowledgeable about Massacusetts State laws;
- An administrator with experience in school construction projects;
- A skilled communicator who posesses a style that fosters a team effort among school, municipal, and community leaders;
- An individual with a demonstrated record of success and achievement in previous employment;
- A person with a highly visible, participatory management style;



Qualifications:

- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Superintendent of Schools in Massachusetts;
- Masters degree required, Advanced degree preferred;
- Minimum of ten years in education, including five years Administrative and/or Central Office experience, and three-five years of teaching experience;
- Successful experience in School Finance and Business management;



Key Responsibilities:

As Chief Executive Officer of the School District, the Superintendent oversees curriculum, instructional and fiscal operations and directly supervises the Business Administrator, Directors and Principals.

July 1 New Superintendent start date
