Pathfinder Assignment - United Nations Study Quest

The 7th grade Social Studies students are now studying world geography. Mrs. Farrell would like to help these students, and their teachers, by creating Pathfinders on different countries that are members of the United Nations. She wants to create a file of Pathfinders and she needs travel brochures and posters to advertise these nations.
Your Mission
1.
You must choose a country that is
a member of the United Nations
2.
You must find appropriate
information about your country and create a Pathfinder guide for other
students and teachers to use.
3.
You must complete a fact sheet on
your country and design a visual to present your country - a travel brochure,
poster, new currency or stamp etc. to advertise your
country.
4.
Write a short (one page) paper on
one aspect of your country that you found interesting -e.g. an attraction, a
major city, historic event, food, etc.
5.
You must act as a travel agent and
present your information to the class.
Task
1.
You will use a variety of print and online library resources to find
information about your country. 2. You will need to find information to include in your travel
brochure or poster. :A worksheet to record
this information will be provided.
Follow the Big 6 Problem Solving skills, and research your country using a variety of library resources.
Your Pathfinder must
include at least:

2 books from our school library
·
1 reference book
·
1 magazine or newspaper article
about your country
·
2 good Internet sites about your
country
·
a video, DVD or pamphlet about
your country, if available
Step1: Check
the online catalog and complete a Subject search for books about your
country. Find the book(s) and READ – check the Table of Contents
and Index to locate information.
Browse the reference
section for encyclopedia articles and geographic reference books that may
have information on your country.

Bonus Points: Research the history of the United Nations and explain how your country has participated.
