SCHOOL-WIDE READING PROGRAM

2005-2006

Oakmont Regional High School

Ashburnham-Westminster Regional School District

Summer is here! Believe it or not, the world of books can offer you many new adventures.

In this packet you will find a list of book choices that your teachers have compiled to explore new worlds this summer. ALL students are responsible to read at least TWO books prior to their courses next year. You need to read at least one book for your English course and at least one book for your Social Studies course. This is true whether you are taking the course first or second semester. Also HERE is a response sheet. We recommend that you fill out the sheet to help you remember details of your book for your class assessments. Some courses have particular assignments (e.g., Humanities, AP English, AP U.S. History and AP Spanish) and students should note the requirements for those courses.

In addition to the required list, other Oakmont courses have recommended reading to help students gain extra credit in a course. Students should complete a response sheet for each book and present this to the appropriate teacher to help him/her determine your understanding of the book.

We advise that you look at the list right away and get started on your reading early in the summer. The books are available at local libraries, bookstores, and on-line at web sites such as Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and AddALL Book Search. Happy reading to you!
