1929-1941: the Great Depression -- This film explores the causes of the Great Depression of 1929, its effect upon Americans from all walks of life, and the forces which eventually resolved the problems associated with it. Dear America: letters home from Vietnam -- After screening NBC News war footage, the filmmaker coupled letters from soldiers in Vietnam and images of the War, with potent results. The wave -- A high school history teacher conducts an experiment involving his students in order to demonstrate how the Nazi party was able to take over Germany in the 1930's. Based on the experience of a high school history class in Palo Alto, California, in 1967. West Side story -- In the world of the 1950s New York City street gangs, an Anglo boy and a Puerto Rican girl fall in love. Their story echoes Shakespeare's tragedy, "Romeo and Juliet," when the feud between rival gangs drives them to suicide.
