Non-Senior students are not allowed to bring vehicles to school except to attend evening functions when bus transportation is not furnished. Any request for a variance in this school policy must be submitted in writing by a parent or guardian to the Assistant Principal.
Only registered seniors, approved school choice students and students scheduled for off-campus enrollment with proper certification will be allowed to drive to and from school each day. This is a privilege and student operators are subject to academic, behavioral and good driving performance requirements. Driving privilege may be granted by the administration once the student operator has filled out an application, has the permission form signed by a parent/guardian, and has paid a fee for parking. Parking permits will be withheld if student bills are not paid, and permits may be revoked if a student has an outstanding bill. Parking identification will be issued which must be affixed to the registered vehicle only. The registered vehicle must be the property of the student registering the vehicle. Any senior, who registers more than one vehicle or changes the registration during the school year must pay a fee for additional identification. Seniors may transport other students as long as they follow Commonwealth of Massachusetts safe driving guidelines. Due to liability concerns it is recommended that drivers have written permission from the parents of their passengers.
A limited number of parking permits will be made available to juniors during the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Permits are only valid for the season in which they are issued. Students must submit a separate application for each season. A staff committee meets to review and approve applications each season. Students must meet the following criteria to be considered for a junior parking permit:
- Must have license for at least six months
- Participate in at least one co-curricular activity or sport
- Be financially and academically eligible
The permit fee is $15 per season.
Students may only park in assigned areas. Students are not to park in spaces marked for faculty, reserved, or visitor. Violations of driving or parking regulations may result in loss of parking privileges, towing fees or possible legal procedures. Students may lose their parking privileges if they are academically or financially ineligible, have excessive disciplinary issues or are habitually tardy. Students may also lose their parking privileges for any unsafe driving practices on school property or for leaving school grounds without permission. Students who lose parking privileges because of rules violations. tardiness, or disciplinary issues are not entitled to any refund of their parking fee.
Vehicles on property without proper tags will be ticketed:
- First offense -- $20.00
- Second offense -- $30.00
- Third offense -- $100.00 and/or towing costs and loss of senior driving privileges.
Ticket fees are to be paid immediately to the Main Office.
