Students may be assigned detention by administration or any other member of the faculty. These detentions are for those students with undesirable patterns of attendance, tardiness or conduct as well as other disciplinary problems. Detentions will be served on the next school day following the detention as long as the detention hall is open that day. Should a student need to change the day for serving the detention, he/she must obtain administrative permission. Postponement of detentions may be granted for extenuating circumstances when requested by a parent or guardian. Detentions owed at the end of the school year must be served either during summer vacation or the first full week in September. Students who fail to serve assigned detentions without being excused will be subject to further disciplinary action up to and including suspension. Lack of transportation, work, or nonessential appointments are not valid reasons for failing to attend detention. If you have obligations to fulfill, don’t get detentions.
