Principal’s News- What a Fantastic Fall!
Dear Oakmont Parents and Students,
I feel honored to be surrounded by so much excellence. I cannot remember a more successful fall both academically and in co-curricular activities. Our MCAS results place us in the top 15% of high schools in MA. All students in the class of 2009 passed MCAS except one. We had six perfect Math Scores. Our SAT scores are well above State and National averages. The academic year so far has also produced the smallest ineligible list in recent years, a measure of overall academic success.
Co-curricular activities have blossomed again with no fees being charged and involvement is close to 70% of the student body. Thank you to the voters for their continued support of our outstanding programs. Our Marching Spartans are State Division 3A Champions and won five stars in all categories at MICCA. The Varsity Cheering squad finished fourth in the state and will compete in the nationals in March. Our Girls Field Hockey Team won the coveted District II Sportsmanship award and our Boys Varsity Soccer Team was District Semi-Finalists and received the State Division II Sportsmanship Award. These are singular honors to be very proud of. The Varsity Football Team completed the program turnaround under Coach Dave LaRoche finishing 11-1 with victories over Gardner on Thanksgiving and capturing the Division III Super Bowl 28-0 on Dec. 2.
What a Fantastic Fall! May the New Year be just as Successful!
