PRINCIPALS'
NEWS
Welcome back! I am very
pleased to introduce our new
assistant principal, Greg Smith. He has been the
assistant principal at Lunenburg High School and
Wachusett Regional. He began his teaching career in
the special education department at Oakmont. He
lives in Ashburnham with his wife Nora and son
Colin, an eighth grade student at Overlook Middle
School. Two of his older children are alumni of
Oakmont.
Despite the override failure,
our commitment to the students remains
unchanged. Although it will not be
“business as usual” the professionals here will
minimize the impact of the cuts on the students.
We are very excited about the challenges of the
upcoming school year. We are committed to the
continued excellence Oakmont students have realized
in and out of the classroom.
We are extremely proud
of our academic achievements, athletic
accomplishments, artistic honors, and consistently
solid citizenship. Oakmont is a great high school
because we have an outstanding faculty, dedicated
support staff, supportive community, involved
parents and, most importantly, talented students.
The key to success at Oakmont is measured by
student learning. Learning is a shared responsibility,
the commitment for success must be made by all
stakeholders-students, parents and teachers. We urge
all of our students to take advantage of as many
opportunities to become a part of Oakmont in and out
of the classroom. A student will get out of Oakmont
what he or she puts into Oakmont—Get Involved!
Our mission is to provide an inclusive, nurturing,
educational environment for all students. If you have
suggestions about how we can better achieve our
mission, please contact us:
