OAKMONT REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENT DRIVING RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Students must apply for permission to drive, and transport other students, to and from Oakmont. Application forms must be signed by a parent/guardian.

  2. All authorized vehicles will be identified by a parking permit, which will be displayed at the bottom left hand corner of your windshield. A parking fee of $30.00 will be charged for the parking permit. The registered vehicle must be the personal property of the registered student or his/her parents/guardian. Students must notify the main office with any vehicle and/or registration changes.

  3. Students will obey all statutes relating to the operation of motor vehicles while traveling to and from school. The burden of familiarity with the law rests with the driver. Speeding or other violations on
campus or traveling to or from school may result in loss of driving privileges.

  4. Students will obey traffic and parking control regulations on school premises. Speed will not exceed (10) miles per hour on campus.

  5. Students are required to park in the rear lot designated student area. Unauthorized and improperly parked vehicles will be ticketed. (1st offense = $25.00, 2nd offense = $50.00, 3rd offense = $100.00/tow)

  6. School buses always have the right of way. Students may not interfere with the departure of the buses when leaving school grounds. Student drivers will stop and allow buses to exit before them.

  7. Students may transport other students with parent permission. Vehicles are not to be overloaded.
All students must be seat belted.

  8. Use or possession of tobacco, alcohol, or drugs is not allowed in student vehicles while on school grounds. This is a violation of the Oakmont Chemical Health Policy that is immediately suspend- able.

  9. No student will be allowed in the parking areas during school hours without permission from the administrative office. Students are not to go to their vehicles during the school day.

  10. Loss of driving privileges or possible legal procedures may result from violation of the above rules or for violation of state or local statutes regarding the operation of motor vehicles.

  11. Use of other student’s permits or permitted vehicles is prohibited.

  12. Student driving is a privilege. All student drivers must be eligible academically, behaviorally, and financially (see student handbook). Driving privileges will be suspended for violation of attendance, academic eligibility, or discipline policies. A suspension will result in loss of driving privilege.

  13. Student drivers that are absent from school are not to be on property the day of the absence to pick up
    or transfer other students.

I have read and agree to abide by the above rules and regulations.
