A big round of applause goes out to all the students who participated in the pumpkin decorating contest. Click here to see more pumpkins! A big thank you goes out to everyone who participated in hat day. The student council raised $322 for the Heavenly Hats Foundation.

JRB teachers Katherine Bennett, Mary Gagnon, Laurie Munroe, Nancy Gera, and Kellie Robichaud , along with principal Candace Wright were honored at the Massachusetts State House on Friday, April 27th, for their outstanding work in teaching math and science skills to their students by participating in the Harvard Forest’s Schoolyard Ecology program.

Decorate a pumpkin at home and bring it to school on Oct. 30th for the day of the contest.  The theme and materials you choose for your pumpkin are up to you!  Please attach your name and class to the pumpkin.  Pumpkins will be displayed by grade level, and viewed by classes during the day.  Pumpkins will go home at the end of the day.  Have fun decorating and good luck!  No pumpkin to decorate? Carve a virtual pumpkin online.

Family members who visited Mrs. Jengo's second grade classroom during Open House last week were greeted by some unusual students. Many thanks to all the families who joined us for Open House.

Once again, JRB students and teachers are participating in the Harvard Forest's schoolyard research program. Grade 4 students are measuring and tracking leaf color change and leaf drop on the trees along the Briggs Nature Trail. Data collected by the students will contribute to a larger study on global warming. For more information, go to the Harvard Forest web site.
