D is for Delta Aquaria Meteor Shower.

 

          The Delta Aquarid Meteor Shower happens every year from July 14 to August 18. Its maximum is on July 28-29.The meteor shower happens each year as the earth passes through the orbit of an unknown comet. Icy pieces that broke off the comet burn up as it enters the earth’s atmosphere. A meteor shower is a big event when many meteors fall through the earth’s atmosphere in a really short time. A huge shower is called a meteor storm. It can make up to a thousand meteors in an hour.
