W is for White Dwarf

Definition: A White Dwarf is a small, very dens, hot star near the end of its life. It’s made mostly of carbon. These faint stars are what remains after a Red Giant star loses its outer layers.  Their nucleus cores are depleted.  They are about the size of Earth but heavier.  Our sun will someday become a White Dwarf.  The companion of Sirius is a White Dwarf.
