Maria Mitchell by Vanessa 3G

          Maria Mitchell was born on Nantucket, Mass. on Aug. 1, 1818. She died on June 28, 1829. She also was the first professor of astronomy at Vassar College. She should be in the Massachusetts Hall of Fame because she was the first female astronomer. Astronomy is the study of outer space. Another reason she should be in the Massachusetts Hall of Fame is she was the first woman elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
