Clara was born 1821 and she died in 1912. Clara was a teacher and she moved to Washington D. C. In D. C. she worked at the patent office. Then she moved Switzerland and worked at the Red Cross.

Clara’s accomplishments are helping soldiers and she went in the battle field herself. She always cared for the wounded during action. She gave lectures on her work experiences. She was the first president American branch of the Red Cross. Because of her efforts the work of the Red Cross was enlarged to help with peacetime disasters.
