      Dorothea Dix was a famous person because she was the first nurse that worked for the Civil War. Dorothea Dix was born in Hampden Maine. She was born in 1802. She died in 1887.  She lived in Boston Massachusetts and she opened her own school. She wanted to help the state Massachusetts mental hospital.
