Connect Ed

The Superintendent’s Office will also notify you of school cancellations and delays through Connect Ed.  We hope this will keep you informed of inclement weather situations.  Please look forward to a 6:00 a.m. phone call.

We have learned that a few phone connections have repeated the greeting of the message.  Connect Ed has asked that individuals cover the mouthpiece of their phone, otherwise background noise may force the system to re-start itself.

Volunteers Needed for Music Night!

Do you like music?  Do you like kids?  Do you like music and kids??  Here’s a chance to experience the sum total of that combination, up close and personal!  If you’d like to spend an evening helping out at the Briggs Holiday Band and Chorus Concert on Thursday, Dec. 15th (6-8 p.m.), call the school office at 978-827-5750 and let us know.  We’ve got just the opportunity for you!

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

As many of you know, the JRB Holiday concert will be held at Oakmont Regional High School on December 14th.  This venue allows us a spacious, comfortable environment; we greatly appreciate the ability to hold our concert at this beautiful facility.

Volunteers are needed!  On Tuesday, Dec. 13th at 12:00 p.m., Mrs. Chadwick is in need of people to help move chairs and music stands from the Oakmont Music room to the stage for the band dress rehearsal for the upcoming Holiday Concert.  If you are able to help, please call (Bev Chadwick), at 978-827-4836.

ADMISSION…We are asking every family to help support our December Student Council Project. (see below)

STUDENT COUNCIL

December Project…3 Projects

*Help us support the Leominster Battered Women and Children’s Shelter—we need soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, lotion, other toiletries and canned foods.

*We would like to assist the State Police Units.  They are in need of stuffed animals for their cruisers.  Gently used would be great!

 *  Project Paperback…our troops are in need of used paperback books.  Please check your shelves and send them into school.

Collection Boxes in the lobby!

All Aboard the Reading Express

First Grade is starting up an exciting reading incentive program, “the reading Express.”  We are encouraging children to join in the excitement and fun of reading, while developing their early reading skills.

Every night, parents are asked to read one book to their child, as well as listen to their child read one “just right for me” book.  A “just right for me” book is a book they will choose from their classroom that is at their independent reading level.  Parents and students will be asked to sign their “Reading Express Log” every day to show they have gone on a reading journey.  Each student will receive a sticker to be put on the “Reading Express” train if they have done their required reading for the week.  The train is displayed in the front lobby to show their progress.  We will celebrate with two pizza parties, one at the halfway mark and one at the end of our journey.
