We made a very big donation of toiletries and canned goods to the Leominster Battered Women’s Shelter. It was greatly appreciated! Two hundred and ninety-seven paperback books were sent to our US Troops. And, we collected so many gently used studded animals that probably every State Police cruiser in the state will have its own stuffed animal! THANK YOU! 4th Grade News… During the month of December, 4th Grade had a special guest to coincide with a story from our reading anthology. The story, Mom’s Best Friend, relates the experiences of a blind woman who trains with a new dog at the Seeing Eye Center in Morristown, NJ. Our visitor, Miss Helene Vautour and her dog, Eugene, also trained at the Seeing Eye. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to make the connection between the story read in class and someone’s actual life experience. Also during December, students and their puppets presented oral book reports based on biographies of many famous people. These included historical figures, as well as athletes, entertainers, authors, artists, and scientists. Many varied types of puppets were created with an interesting array of materials.
