Goal 1-Funding and Resources

The school district has the necessary funding for a free and appropriate high quality public education.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #1 ~ Contact local/sate legislators about budget issues (ie. Chapter 70, transportation, special education funding.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #2 ~ Full-time federal/state/local foundations private grant writer and private grant administrator.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #3 ~ Alumni association to (re)establish and coordinate with graduates to achieve a substantial yearly pledge.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #4 ~ Establish a business/community members partnership program and an education foundation.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #5 ~ Offer adult education

Goal 2 -Communications

Our community is fully informed about and supports the Ashburnham-Westminster Regional School District.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #1 ~ Form a district-wide communications committee including, but not limited to, a representative from each school.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #2 ~ District will improve communications with Senior Citizens by following organized, formal communication strategies.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #3 ~ District will improve communications through use of a formal, organized plan to more efficiently use Cable Access.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #4 ~ Develop a district-wide newsletter outlining events and happenings in AWRSD. News letter to be distributed town wide.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #5 ~ District will improve school websites by developing standardized criteria for each school website.

Goal 3 -Professional Development

The School Committee, administration, teachers and support staff have the knowledge and skills to provide our students with a comprehensive education.

STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #2 ~ Survey staff for professional development needs.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #3 ~ Ongoing assessments on professional development programs.

Goal 4 -Student Achievement and Standards

Our students’ achievement continually improves through research-based educational practices and strategies.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #1 ~ Review, align and connect district curriculum to state frameworks.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #2 ~ Develop district-wide procedure for data collection, disaggregating, evaluation, application and publication.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #3 ~ Establish/implement performance standards.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #4 ~ Identify/implement education/instruction models for individual needs of students.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #5 ~ All students will meet the MCAS AYP directives.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #6 ~ All students will meet NCLB CPI requirements by 2014.

The physical and learning facilities promote safe schools and high academic achievement.

STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #2 ~To develop and promote a welcoming environment at all schools for students, parents and community.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE #3 ~ Improved methods for greeting public and responding to parents and community in a mutually respectful and responsive manner..
