Find information on a web page.

Use a word processing program to draft, revise and publish a letter.

Create a slideshow using PowerPoint software that includes text, pictures, sound, animation and video.

Use special writing techniques and visual effects to persuade rather than inform.

 

Research & Letter

1) Read through the directions on the Visiting Our Nation's Capitol home page.

2) Get a note sheet from Mrs. Davis and go over how to a) scan for information; and b) take notes.

3) Begin your research!

4) When your research is done, write a letter to Mrs. Lafayette. Use what you learned in your research to help her plan her trip to Washington, DC. Click here to see how your letter will be graded.

 

Presentation

1) Look through the outline and grading rubric.

2) Go into PowerPoint and setup your slides.

* Use the Visiting Our Nation's Capitol web site to get pictures for your title slide (slide #1).

* Use this web page for your location slide (slide #2).

* Use your note sheet, letter, and the Visiting Our Nation's Capitol web site for information on places to visit (slides #3-5).

* Use your note sheet and letter for the conclusion (slide #6).

* Use your bibliography sheet and note sheet for the bibliography (slide #7).

3) When you have finished adding text and pictures, go on to sound and animation.
