NEW BUSINESS
Fall Fundraiser
Kicked off on 10/1 with Yankee Candle. 20
orders received at about $1300.00 so far.
Orders due by 10/15. Assistance needed on 11/20
to receive, sort and hand out orders.
Merchandise will not be left in the lobby.
Fall Festival
Kelly spoke on behalf of Gail. Due to problems
at other ice rinks, Cushing is the only local
rink available. Ice time is limited. We are
not able to book ice time for the Fall. We will
look to book ice time in March.
Pencil and Bracelet Hand-Outs
Due to Wellness Policy, we can not hand out
candy bags. Glow Bracelets and Pencils have
been donated and will be distributed to the
students. Motion was made to hand out at the
end of the school day. We will revisit the
candy bags next school year.
Grade Level Fundraiser
Original suggestion was denied by
superintendent’s office because it resembles
gambling and involves the handling of cash. The
Marching Band is holding a similar fundraiser
but handing out gift card prizes instead of cash
prizes. Dr. Zapantis has agreed to allow the
calendar fundraiser if we award gift cards
instead of cash. Gift Cards can be awarded to
Wal-Mart, Market Basket, Hannaford, Target, Visa
Gift Card, Gardner Cinema, Applebee’s, The 99
Restaurant, Papa Gino’s, Gas Card, etc. $5.00
for one calendar. Winners would be contacted
via phone and announced in the Briggs At Large.
Gift Cards awards will be documented on the
calendar so parents will know what card is
awarded on each day. A motion was made and
seconded to replace grade level baskets with the
Calendar Sale, resubmit the proposal. Kim Brown
and Tanya Eberlin will Co- Chair. Connect Ed
announcement will be done to notify parents of
this fundraiser.
PTA Memberships
42 members have signed up to join the PTA this
year. Good response from the teachers. There
is a PTA Membership fee of $4.00 per person for
the school year. We will award a door prize to
one teacher for attending at each PTA meeting.
Motion was made and seconded for teacher door
prize at each PTA meeting.
Student Directories
Forms for the directories went home in the
welcome packets and a second time a few weeks
ago. Donna Toothaker is compiling the books.
We need a place to print them. Cost will be
$3.00. Directories will go on sale around the 3rd
week of October.
Brenda Brown is the chair person for the student
directories.
Movie Night
Brenda called the Cinema for prices and
available movie titles. The Enchanted and the
Golden Compass are coming out later this fall.
November 21st and December 7th.
Motion was made to look into the movie night.
We would be looking for a Saturday date.
Yearbook
Letter will be sent out soon to reserve add
space for the yearbook.
5th grade questions and baby picture
requests will be sent out soon.
Spring Fundraiser
Soliciting ideas for the spring fundraiser.
Tupperware catalog, yard sale “spring fling” at
the school, etc.
Spring Fling – carnival with popcorn, face
painting, tattoos, children’s games, petting
zoo, hotdogs, hamburgers, airwalk. Yard sale
tables. Perhaps business in town can help
sponsor some of the booths. Fire Department
volunteers, Lions Club, etc. Possible date of
Saturday, May 10th.
Becky suggested we plan a “cattle call” for
January where presenters come and present their
fundraising ideas at one time and then we can
decide/vote on the fundraiser we would like to
do. Reanne Clark offered to go around to local
businesses for donations.
Motion was made and seconded to work on
Spring Fling
for Spring fundraiser.
Need to decide on
tool box kits
for next year within the next month or two.
Contract needs to be signed with the tool box
kit company to receive the discount. Motion was
made to offer school tool boxes for the 2008-09
school year. Becky will start the tool box kit
process. We will need a co-chair to take over.
Family Night
November 29th at Pizzeria Uno in
Leominster. Rachel will confirm with Uno’s and
then coupons need to be created.
Bring A Loved One to Lunch
Rachel is contacting the cafeteria.
