As a culminating event for our maple syrup unit, the children will be taking a walking field trip on Thursday, March 29th to a Sugarhouse on Platts Road. Mr. Henry, a Fitchburg resident, is tapping trees on his property and using the sap to make maple syrup. Mr. Henry has volunteered to give a tour of his Sugarhouse to the entire second grade. Each class would like to have as many chaperones as possible. If you would like to chaperone this trip, please let your child’s teacher know right away.
Last Week to Order Easter Flowers As a springtime fundraiser, the second grade will be selling Easter Lilies, Asiatic Lilies, tulips and hyacinths. This fundraiser will help defray the cost of a field trip to Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory in Deerfield. This field trip will be a culminating event connected to a science unit based on the life cycle of a butterfly. All orders must be placed by Monday, March 26th. Kindergarten News

(May testing will include math, science, and social studies). Please ensure your child has sufficient sleep and a hearty breakfast.
Service Auction Colonial B & B March 30, 2007
This week we are highlighting the Silent and Live Auction Items. The lists attached to the B.A. L. are the most current, but are ever changing as items are coming in every day. A number of these items are on display in the school lobby, but to see them all, please attend the auction. If you are unable to attend, a Proxy Bid Form is also attached to the B.A. L. You may complete this form and send it into school. One of our Proxy Bidders will be happy to represent you during the auction. Please note…completing this form does obligate you to the purchase of an item, if you are the winning bidder (even if you are not there). Chinese Auction raffle tickets as well as the “Special Staff Raffle” tickets will be accepted until the evening of March 30th. We are overwhelming pleased with the positive response we have received regarding this fundraising event. The community, staff and parents have donated an amazing number of items and services for “our first ever auction”. The students are very excited about many of the services and raffles. We are hoping for a GREAT night. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT Go Cris! 6th Annual Ashburnham-Westminster Community Benefit Hockey Game 5:00 PM Saturday, March 31, 2007, Iorio Arena Cushing Academy $5.00 each This year’s game will benefit the family of Cris R. of Ashburnham. Cris is a 4th grader at Briggs. He has Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus and is confined to a wheelchair. The goal of this year’s game is to raise money to offset the cost of a van equipped with a special lift ramp to help with Cris' transportation. For those not able to attend the game but would like to donate to this worthy cause, raffle tickets are available for $5.00 each. Please contact Mrs. Lawrence, school nurse or the school office for tickets to this event.
