News from the Fifth Grade The fifth graders have been learning about the Solar System in science. We were fortunate to have a visit from the Boston Museum of Science with their traveling planetarium, STARLAB. The students learned about the phases of the moon, the planets and the constellations that are visible in the New England night sky at this time of the year. This special program was funded by the J. R. Briggs Enrichment Fund, so please continue to support the fundraisers that allow such activities. Students are beginning a new endeavor in social studies where they will research one of the original thirteen colonies in order to write their first research paper. They will be using reference materials in the school library, as well as internet sources in the tech lab. Once the research paper is completed, the students will work in groups to design presentation boards that will be displayed in a “Colonial Museum” for the third grade next month.
